Many of you ask about our plans for future Java usage by Oracle E-Business Suite. To help you navigate through what can sometimes seem like a maze, we have recently published an important new My Oracle Support note:

This FAQ continues work that Steven Chan started after receiving many questions from you on this topic over the years. As lead author of the FAQ, I collaborated with a number of people in the Oracle E-Business Suite and Java development and product management teams to deliver this note.

The first part of the note describes important recommended actions for Java in your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 or 12.1 client, application and database tiers.

In the second part of the note, you will find clear answers to many commonly asked questions. Here are some specific examples:

  • My organization is transitioning our Oracle E-Business Suite environments to Java Web Start. What if we encounter issues with the Java Plug-in during this period?
  • Can I use multiple JRE versions to access Oracle E-Business Suite and other systems from the same desktop?
  • Will JDK 11 be certified with Oracle E-Business Suite?

We plan to keep this note up-to-date with our latest guidance. We hope you’ll find it worth reading, bookmarking, and adding to your MOS Favorites.

Feel free to leave comments and suggestions on this article. And as always, remember that to obtain help with specific technical issues in your EBS system, you’ll need to log a service request in My Oracle Support.
